Someone asked me a question on Instagram, if the Stelux bracelet for my Seiko 6139-6020 (“Doctor’s watch / Pulsations) would fit the 6138-8020 “Panda”. Well, there’s only one way to find out…

The Pulsations has a Stelux President, the Panda a standard Z027 bracelet. I have another Panda with a Stelux on it, and it’s definitely a step up from the Z027 in terms of look and feel. Given the number of Pandas you see coming up for sale with the wrong bracelet or a strap, buying a beaten-up Doctor could be a good way of getting a suitable Stelux bracelet, though Doctors are thin on the ground and not exactly cheap…

The short answer to “will it fit” … is, probably.

The problem lies in the shape of the lugs… [forgive the blurriness but you’ll get the idea – Panda on top, with much thicker lugs]

… which basically means if you take the end link from the Doctor, it will be too “thin” to be attached to the Panda.

Now, it would be possible to bend it open wider and I’m pretty sure it would fit then. I’m not about to mangle my end links for the purposes of this experiment, though. The key thing is that the radius of the edge, and the width, is right.
Here’s the Doctor wearing the Panda’s Z027 –

it’s a really good fit widht-wise, even if it’d need the end links to be bent back in to the underside of the lug to prevent them from flapping about.
